Bio
Who We Are
The Silversteins are an Australian trio weaving Western-tinged storytelling through layers of Spanish and electric guitar and atmospheric rock. Formed in 2024, the band features Anthony Brown (vocals, guitars, keyboards, orchestration), James Geach (bass), and David Orwell (bass, guitars, pedal steel). Their sound drifts between the cinematic and the intimate — blending haunting melodies with lyrical tales of love, loss, and resilience.
Formation
Originally conceived as a one-off performance at the Old Manly Boatshed in Sydney, The Silversteins quickly found their footing and kept playing — immediately recording and releasing their debut album Lonely Rider in January 2025. The record introduced their signature Western themes and atmospheric soundscapes.
History
Anthony and David’s musical roots stretch back to their high-school days in the 1980s, when they first performed together in a student band called The Cracksteins, experimenting with guitar pop powered by Vox amps and Gretsch and Fender guitars. After years of exploring separate creative paths, they reunited with James — who also performs in Crimes On Art and had previously played with them in the original surf band Kelp. James and Anthony also shared time together in The Applegates.
Our Music
The Silversteins’ songs are melodic, cinematic, and sometimes rocky, built around co-written lyrics by David and Anthony. Their music shifts between desert twilight and electric storm.
Diamond Girl
The band released their second album, Diamond Girl (December 2025), comprising both old and new songs freshly recorded, capturing the live spark that first brought them together. Haunting ballads, desert waltzes, and flashes of psychedelic power rock.
